GORE™ Seating Protection, our revolutionary technology for upholstery fabrics, creates a new category of durably waterproof, breathable moisture barrier seating products with proven performance for today's fabrics. GORE™ Seating Protection resists stains and prevents substances from reaching the cushion beneath the fabric, while offering excellent breathability for maximum seating comfort.

Available on practically any upholstery textile, GORE™ Seating Protection gives commercial design professionals more choices than ever before. This new breathable moisture barrier technology is not limited to certain patterns or constructions and can be applied to both standard and custom fabrics. Superior fabric selections:

Superior abrasion resistance with enhanced seam slippage results:

  • Wyzenbeek test results showed, on average, an increase of 51 percent in double rubs.*

Superior anti-microbial protection - AATCC 147, AATCC 30:

  • The superior anti-microbial topical treatment was tested for Staphylococcus Aureus (representing gram-positive bacteria). Contact Inhibition, Zone Inhibition - Excellent results. Has shown to also inhibit the more challenging gram-negative bacteria.
  • The superior anti-microbial topical treatment was also tested for Aspergillus Niger (representing fungi, mold, and mildew). Contact Inhibition, Zone Inhibition - Excellent results.
  • The unique technology behind the GORE™ moisture barrier is not affected by fungi, mold, mildew, or ultraviolet light.

Superior breathability:

  • Helps moisture vapor pass through the fabric for increased comfort while sitting for long periods.

Superior soil and stain resistance:

  • Superior repellency of water- and alcohol-based spills and stains.
  • Excellent results on the toughest stains (mustard, oil-based, and hot coffee).

Superior cleanability:

  • Since the GORE™ moisture barrier prevents liquids and stains from reaching the foam cushion, the cushion stays dry and clean.
  • Virtually all stains can be cleaned with the most instinctive first response: a damp cloth and water.
  • If needed, an upholstery spot cleaner, a solvent-based cleaner, or a fabric degreaser may be used for oil-based stains.

Superior flame resistance:

  • CAL 133 test results showed that the GORE™ Seating Protection did not adversely impact the flammability test results of the sample.
  • Emitted 23 times less carbon monoxide than a comparable textile with a polyurethane (PU) coating.
  • Sample fabrics passed CAL 117 and met Class 1 requirements for NFPA 260 and UFAC.
